Javier Bernal-Arévalo, ganador de la Residencia Artística Nacional del Ministerio de Cultura, permaneció durante seis semanas en la Casa Deuxsoleils (Honda, Tolima), sede de la residencias de FLORA.
Javier Bernal-Arévalo, egresado de la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, es conocido por sus animaciones hechas a partir de dibujos. Su obra Meteoro: 91 días, 2012, recibió una mención en el Premio Bienal de Arte de Bogota, de la Fundación Gilberto Álzate Avendaño en 2012.
Durante su estadía en Honda, Bernal realizó más de 700 dibujos que luego animó, obteniendo como resultado la instalación Sueños de restitución, la cual se presenta en FLORA a partir del sábado 21 de septiembre. Sueños de restitución consiste en una proyección de video sobre humo que muestra una amapola que florece y muere, acompañada por los dibujos originales.
De acuerdo con el artista, «Sueños de restitución es un espacio instalativo entre la animación del proceso de vida de una planta imaginaria, la “Soñadera», sobre el humo.
Entre los dibujos de procesos vegetales, anotaciones de la sabiduría de la siembra y los acontecimientos anecdóticos, esta flor pretende sumergirnos entre el proceso vital del cultivo de la “Soñadera” (con referencia a la amapola o dormidera, Papaver somniferum, utilizada para la producción del opio y la heroína) y las contingencias emanadas cuando éstas son consideradas como plantas ilegales.
La poética de la proyección sobre el humo adquiere el efecto volátil entre lo difuso y nítido de los sueños, las esperanzas e incertidumbres que se siembran en la idiosincrasia del mundo rural».

Javier Bernal-Arévalo, the winner of the National Artistic Residence of the Department of Culture, stayed for six weeks in the House Deuxsoleils (Honda, Tolima), seat of the FLORA residences.
Bernal, graduated in the University Jorge Tadeo Lozano, is known for his animations made with drawings. His work Meteoro: 91 days (2012), received a mention in the First Bienal of Art in Bogota from the Fundation Gilberto Álzate Avendaño, in 2012.
During his stay in Honda, Bernal realized more than 700 drawings that he animated. So, he obtained the instalation Sueños de restitución (Dreams of Restitution), which will be shown in FLORA, the 21st of September. Dreams of Restitution consists of a video projection on smoke, accompanied by the original drawings. The video shows a poppy flower, that blooms and dies.
In accordance with the artist, “Dreams of Restitution” is an instalative space between the animation of the process of the life of an imaginary plant, the “Soñadera”, on the smoke. Between the drawings of vegetal processes, annotation of the knowledge of sowing and anecdotal events, this flower pretents to submerges us between the vital process of the cultivation of the “Soñadera” (with reference to poppy, Papaver somniferum, used for the production of opium and heroine) and the emanating contingencies when they are considerated to be illegal plants.
The poetic of the projection on the smoke acquires a volatile effect between the diffuse and the clearness of the dreams, the hopes and incertitute that are sowed in the idiosyncrasy of the rural world.”
