Gabinete # 2
El Programa Gabinete de FLORA ars + natura invoca la figura histórica de los cabinets de curiosités, pequeños espacios con auge durante los siglos XVI y XVII en Europa, dedicados a exhibir colecciones de objetos singulares o extraordinarios. A través de una convocatoria abierta, FLORA eligió nueve proyectos pensados desde la noción de gabinete de curiosidades que se presentarán en el espacio de la vitrina durante el transcurso del 2014.
Querida, ya estoy en casa de Guillermo Marconi (Bucaramanga, 1980) es el segundo gabinete de este año. Marconi es arquitecto y artista colombiano, centrado en el trabajo con objetos, instalaciones e intervenciones sonoras relacionadas con los conceptos de «low high tech» y los métodos DIY (hágalo Ud. mismo), que involucran artefactos electromecánicos, explorando relaciones transversales entre lo mediático, el acceso a la información, el conocimiento compartido y las nuevas formas de utilización del mismo.
Querida, ya estoy en casa está inspirado en las vitrinas o dioramas exhibidos en museos de ciencias naturales, donde se recrean escenas vívidas con todos los elementos del hábitat natural de cada especie. En la vitrina vemos una escena doméstica de seres imaginarios; máquinas animadas que encuentran interrumpido su espacio “natural” por un ser ajeno a su mundo, una planta. Los seres mecánicos, con gestos y movimientos casi humanos, investigan y analizan aquel nuevo ser que emerge de la mesa, casi del mismo modo que nosotros, como espectadores, observamos con asombro el comportamiento de estos seres ficticios. Esta doble escena de observación, señala aquel asombro perdido al mirar la vida de los seres que nos rodean, en este la vida de una planta.

Cabinet # 2: Darling, I’m already home, Guillermo Marconi
The Cabinet Program of FLORA ars+ natura invokes the historical image of the Cabinet de Curiosités, small spaces during the 16th and 17th century in Europe, dedicated to exhibit collections of rare or extraordinary objects. Through an open call, FLORA chose nine projects with the concept of the Cabinet de Curiosités that will be published in the space of the shop window during 2014.
Darling, I’m already home by Guillermo Marconi (Bucaramanga, 1980) is the second Cabinet this year. Marconi is an architect and Colombian artist who works with objects, installations and sound interventions related to the concepts of “low high tech” and the DIY (do it yourself) methods. This involves electromagnetic artefacts, exploring transverse relations between the media, the acces to information, the shared knowledge and the new ways of using it.
Darling, I’m already home was inspired by cabinets or dioramas, which are exhibit in natural science museums, where in vivid surroundings with all the elements of natural habitat of every species can be seen. In the cabinet is a domestic scene of imaginary beings. These are animated machines that were interrupted in their “natural” habitat by a plant, which is for them a foreign being to their world. The mechanical beings have gestures and almost human movements. They investigate and analyze the new one that appeared on the table – almost in the same way like us, the spectators – who observe with wonder the behavior of these fictious beings. This double observation scene points out the great lost of watching the life of the beings around us, in this case the life of a plant.
