Mi proyecto para Flora surge del encuentro con la ciudad de Honda, una ciudad que guarda los recuerdos de la época de oro del comercio, la ingeniería y la navegación de sus ríos, en contraste con su decadencia actual.
Partiendo de dos elementos muy presentes en Honda -sus puentes y el río Magdalena- he intentado crear un “retrato” subjetivo de la ciudad, así como de la huella que han dejado estos elementos en su memoria colectiva.
Grafittis urbanos con representaciones de barcas, puentes que han desaparecido pero que reverberan en el anecdotario urbano o un río poco navegable, conforman – junto a la grandeza industrial y comercial venida a menos de la zona – el retrato actual de esta ciudad.
A través de la fotografía, del dibujo y del grabado, intento reflexionar sobre este momento en el tiempo y compartir una mirada, un tanto bucólica y por momentos incómoda, de lo que fue mi estancia de una semana en Honda.

Carlos Garaicoa, Different ways to cross a river
My project for FLORA comes from my experiences in Honda, a city that keeps the memories of the golden epoch of the trade, the engineering and the river navigation in contrast to its current decline.
Broken from the two very present elements in Honda – its bridges and the River Magdalena – I have tried to create a subjective “portrait” of the city and of the trace that these elements have left in its collective memory.
Urban Grafittis with boats and bridges that have disappeared but that are reflected in the collection of urban anecdotes. Also, the bad navigable river – as well as the beginning of Industry and Trade, which came late to this area – shape the current portrait of this city.
With photos, drawing and engraving, I try to reflect on the moment in this time and like to share my view: a little bucolic and uncomfortable at some moments of my one week residence in Honda.
